The Piyadasa Gallery
LOCATION: Level 1, Old Chancellery Building,UM
The Piyadasa Gallery is named after the renowned artist, curator, and art historian, Redza Piyada who initiated the Visual Arts MA program at the Cultural Centre back in 2003. The gallery is located on the first floor of the Cultural Centre and hosts a number of shows every year. Although for-profit exhibitions are possible, the Piyadasa gallery emphasises academic, not-for-profit, exhibitions with a strong academic justification benefiting the artistic and academic communities of the Visual Arts Program, Cultural Centre, and the University of Malaya. The gallery also promotes presentations, public lecturers, spaces for research on gallery and artistic practices, and publications on the Visual Arts.
If you would like to propose an exhibition or art project for the Piyadasa Gallery, you can contact the Visual Arts Program Coordinator for more information. The exhibition should be created with the Visual Art program or at least the Cultural Centre, and its courses in mind, so that our students can benefit from the exhibit and the academic outputs from the exhibit.
