The Faculty of Creative Arts proudly presented the Joseph Tan Archive Project Workshop on 8 May 2026, co-organized by the Visual Arts Program, Visual Arts Student Club, and the Joseph Tan Publication and Archive Project Team. In this workshop, participants were introduced to select archival materials from the late Malaysian artist and educator Joseph Tan (1941–2001).
Exploratory in nature, students were invited to engage with historical materials and to reconsider different methodologies for archival research. Hopefully our participants have gained a better understanding of how history and archives can be generative.
The workshop was co-facilitated by Beverly Yong, Chuah Chong Yong, Chuah Shang Qi, Nur Sakinah, Ong Kar Jin, Wong Jian Lin, and Dr. Tan Zi Hao and Dr. Wang Jiabao from our Visual Arts Program, Fakulti Seni Kreatif. Special thanks to Lena Bok for lending the materials.
