The Faculty of Creative Arts (FCA) members are pleased to welcome the new Dean, Professor Dr. Hanafi Bin Hussin, effective from 27th June 2022 until 31st March 2024.
He was the Deputy Director of Academic Affairs in the Cultural Centre (now Faculty of Creative Arts). Thus, his name is not unheard of to the faculty members as he has served as a lecturer since the inception of the academic program at the Cultural Centre in 1997. Besides teaching in the area of ‘Southeast Asia traditional performing arts’ and ‘careers in performing arts’, he has been actively establishing international relations through various programs, especially among the activists in Southeast Asia.
He is a former Dean of the UM Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, who currently serves as Head of Maritime Community, Law, Policy and Governance Unit in the Institute of Ocean and Earth Sciences (IOES); as well as the Head, Universiti Malaya Cultural and Heritage Research Centre (UMCHRC), and Head of Malaysian Population and Migration Research Centre (MPMRC).
Hence, under his kind leadership and abundance of experience in academic and social work, fellow academicians and staff of the Faculty of Creative Arts will continue to shine on the stage of national arts, culture and heritage as well as enrich our artistic and research skills globally beyond boundaries of knowledge, in nurturing aspiring leaders.
